Whatever their design, stairways must have handrails on both sides.
All handrails are required to :
• be installed at a height of 0.80 m to 1.00 m.
• be horizontally extended by the length of one step over the first and last step of each flight, this
however not being an obstacle to horizontal traffic.
• be continuous, rigid and easy to hold on to.
